It is always with great saddness that we send this message concerning our loss of Steve Melon.  He was a great friend to so many of us.  He reached out so so many students during his coaching carreer.  Rest in Peace our Dear Steve.

 

Obituary

Alex Steve Melon

Alamogordo - Alamogordo, NM - Alex Steve Melon, 67, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2021 at his home in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Steve was born on June 1, 1953 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Fernando (Chino) and Helen Melon.

Steve was a dedicated coach and teacher for over 30 years. He taught at Permian High School in Odessa TX. He was very proud of the relationships he developed with students and co-workers over the years. Steve enjoyed getting out on his Harley and attending the horse races in Ruidoso NM.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Helen Melon, his sister Gloria Trujillo. He leaves one brother, Vince (Lisa) Melon, two sons, two daughters and nine grandchildren.

Due to current Covid restrictions, a private service will be held at a later time.

Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Alamogordo Home Health and Hospice. Thank you to the Hospice Team for all of the care and support provided to Steve and his family.

The Melon family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.

Steve and I followed each other in the AHS ' 71 alphabet - Melon, Melton - next to each other in the yearbooks and sat next to each other during graduation!  A special memory - one FUN evening of country-western dancing someplace in Tularosa . . . he was a fantastic dancer!

My sincerest condolences to Steve's family and friends!
