Just this August, we met with Molly to plan our next reunion. She seemed energetic and happy in her life. We are so sad to learn that she has passed away so soon. Rest peacefully, dear Molly.

Just this summer I had an email from Molly, telling me about what she had been doing the last 45 years since we graduated. Her plans on after retirement. She wanted to know where I was living and my life. We were good friends in high school. It was so nice hearing from her after all these years. Just shows us we need to live our lives to the fullest. RIP Molly.

Molly and I were reconnected because of the 40th reunion, which she was unable to attend because she lived in Alaska. She was the same kind, gentle soul that I remembered from school. How enriched was my life by her influence. We met in Jr High. She was quiet in class, but had great wit and creativity in writing. Her poetry won her awards (Mrs. Lee English teacher). These took her to one of her first writing jobs in Chicago, Ill. writing a column for "The Christian Science Monitor". From there she went to other writing positions. Then returned to NMSU to get her degrees and eventually was a contract administrator for various Dept of Defense projects. Molly went through some difficult challenges growing up...her parents became ill and so she was raised by her aunt and uncle. During her time in Jr High and High School both her parents died and her uncle, who she lived with. Because of that unfortunate life situation, most kids would have been walking around with a "poor me", victim mentality. She never did. I remember the morning her mother died, she was in school...in goverment class, she did not answer a question, which the instructor scolded her in class. After class, she told the teacher that her mother died that morning and apologized for being distracted. As young as she was, she displayed amazing strength of character and the determination to not let adversity hold her back. What a role model she was and is to us who knew her! I will miss her dearly.
